From September 7 to 13, 2025, Academician Huang Zhen, Founding Dean of College of Smart Energy, led a delegation to visit universities, energy research institutions, and enterprises in Spain and Morocco, with the aim of exploring international cooperation in energy technology innovation and talent cultivation. The delegation members included Han Dong, Vice Dean of College of Smart Energy, Chair Professor Nicolas ALONSO-VANTE,  Associate Professor Zhang Chen and Yang Lu from International Office.

During the visit to Spain, the delegation conducted in-depth research at several renowned Spanish research institutions in the energy sector. At the Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT), Academician Huang Zhen held in-depth discussions with Mercedes Ballesteros Perdices, Director of the Energy Department; M. Nieves Vela Barrionuevo, Director of the Renewable Energy Institute; Juan Manuel Garrido López, Director of the Science Coordination Center; and Eng. José Ignacio Cruz, Director of the Knowledge Transfer Center. The topics included renewable energy, green fuels, and energy transition. Both sides agreed to strengthen scientific research cooperation and personnel exchanges in the clean energy field.

Academician Huang Zhen's visit to Spain and Morocco provided an in-depth understanding of the two countries' energy technology policies, higher education systems, and innovation ecosystems. The delegation established new cooperative ties with several high-level research institutions and universities, explored multiple practical cooperation directions, and laid a solid foundation for advancing future international collaboration and strengthening talent exchanges between the two countries.
